Via a cloud-based solution, Santander UK provides its UK small and medium-sized company (SME) clients with guidance on expanding their export operations using technology from Salesforce.

Because few UK Businesses export, according to research conducted by the bank, the UK branch of Spain’s Santander created its Santander Navigator digital platform last year to assist fill a market need.

The online system “brings together a worldwide ecosystem of experience and information to assist enterprises overcome trade-related difficulties and to comprehend the many qualities of doing business in a new market,” according to Santander UK.

Using Salesforce technologies like Experience Cloud, Commerce Cloud, and Marketing Cloud, the platform, to which SME clients can subscribe, provides them with personalized services.

Despite the present economic climate, 70% of UK firms are optimistic about growth over the next three years, according to Santander’s Autumn 2022 Trade Barometer, citing expansion in both new and existing markets as recovery drivers. Yet, it was also shown that fewer than 10% of UK companies export their services.

According to Santander, Santander Navigator was created to assist small and mid-sized UK businesses in navigating opportunities for international expansion.

According to Santander UK’s John Carroll, head of international and transactional banking, companies that export grow more quickly than those that are only interested in the UK market. By removing obstacles and simplifying the procedure, he added, “We aim to enable more enterprises to profit from possibilities to develop worldwide and encourage new ones to start their international adventure.”

To provide individualized customer service, the Santander platform makes use of automation, intelligence, and real-time data.

Another instance of the bank assisting its business clients by utilizing its knowledge of technology and connections to IT vendors. The bank said last year that it was collaborating with Google Cloud to create a solution to aid companies from various industrial sectors in migrating their outdated systems to the cloud.

Google’s Dual Run service, as it is known, was created using Santander’s Gravity technology. As part of its digital transformation, the Spanish bank is presently employing the service to move systems to the cloud. It announced in May 2022 that it intended to have all of its infrastructure on the cloud. It claimed to be migrating 200 servers to the cloud per working day at the time.

Moving to the cloud would “provide simpler and quicker access to data, more simplicity and faster time to market, making it feasible to deploy new features in hours, instead of days, and more regular app upgrades,” according to Santander.

It claimed that real-time analytics will enable the bank to offer better goods and services while lowering the high operating expenses of the main banking platform system, including a 70% reduction in energy expenditures.
